Roofing for Atlanta’s climate
Atlanta’s roofs fight humidity, heat and thunderstorms more than cold. Storm season runs from late March through November and peaks May to August, with 50 to 60 thunderstorm days a year, wind gusts past 60 mph, hail, several inches of rain in under an hour, and the occasional tropical system pushing inland from the Gulf. Humidity speeds up the breakdown of roofing materials, and intense UV works on anything that is not reflective.
That is why we lean toward reflective membranes and silicone coatings on commercial roofs here, drainage sized for downpours, and moisture surveys before re-roofing older buildings.
What we do in Metro Atlanta
Most of what we do here falls into three buckets: commercial roofing in Atlanta, roof replacement in Atlanta and roof repair in Atlanta.
Commercial
Residential & storm
Get ahead of storm season
- Inspect in March or April, before the peak
- Repair flashing, seams and drainage first — that is where storms get in
- Clear drains, scuppers and gutters
- Secure rooftop equipment and check anchor points
- Review your policy and claim deadlines before you need them
Permits across five counties
Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett and Cherokee counties each run their own permitting, and approval on larger commercial projects commonly takes one to three weeks. We pull permits and build that time into the schedule you see in your proposal.
What customers say
Our Acworth office holds 5.0 out of 5 across 16 Google reviews — read them on Google.
I highly recommend American Commercial Roofing. They did a fantastic job replacing the shingles on my roof. The process was not just fast, it was professional. Zach, met with my wife and me before the project to show us options and laid out pricing in an easy to understand presentation. The best was not the new roof (even though it is high quality) it was the follow-up communication.

Do you cover the whole metro?
Yes, with the north and west metro closest to our office. Call and we will confirm scheduling for your location.

On low-slope commercial roofs, a white TPO or PVC membrane, or a silicone coating over a sound existing roof. On homes, lighter-colored shingles and proper attic ventilation make a measurable difference.
